Jill Barber: Live at the Palomar

Role: Associate Producer

  • Planned and coordinated the development, testing, and rehearsal schedule for a cast and crew of over 50 people across virtual production, motion capture, sound, lighting, audience streaming, and marketing and promotion teams 
  • Managed a 6-week production pipeline for the virtual art assets of the resurrected Palomar Supper Club in Unreal Engine 4, including environment, characters, props, and effects
Key Achievements:
  • Produced a successful show for a viewership of 1300+ remote audience members
  • Procured catering, lighting, and sound under budget to minimize production costs

A live-streamed jazz concert featuring Jill Barber and her Phantom Band performing in the virtually resurrected Palomar Supper Club

Project Lazuli

Role: Project Manager, Business Lead

  • Led an interdisciplinary team of 4 over 3 months to create a playable prototype of a narrative-based PC game, and a working information hub website with health resources for those experiencing loneliness
  • Conducted extensive health research and market research to inform our game design and business approach
  • Managed all external communications
  • Planned social media content for IJKL Studio’s Instagram account
Key Achievements:
  • Pitched the Lazuli concept to a panel of industry professionals to be accepted as a Summer term project in the Master of Digital Media program
  • Facilitated all-remote team collaboration
  • Exhibited at the 2020 Games for Change Festival (G4C) Marketplace
  • Obtained a Professional Development Grant from Simon Fraser University to help cover registration costs at G4C 

A trans media solution to address loneliness in young adults, consisting of a free PC game and a community hub website

Ringmaster Virtual Production System

Role: Project Manager

  • Led an interdisciplinary team of 5 over 3 months to create a prototype of an Unreal engine extension tool on the Magic Leap One
Key Achievements:
  • Facilitated a smooth transition to remote work halfway through the project timeline
  • Delivered our promised digital prototype on time despite major learning curves with the required tech stack
  • Equipped our client with comprehensive and clear documentation, including additional user flows and design recommendations, to continue development of the tool 
  • Enabled our client to move forward with an application for the Canada Media Fund to pioneer the world’s first live real-time motion capture circus performance

A Mixed Reality tool for pre-visualizing virtual avatars, environments, props, and special effects for live digital performances

Role: Project Manager, Writer, Translator

  • Managed an interdisciplinary team of 6 over 3 months to create a polished educational app featuring an interactive map of Chinese dialects
  • Conducted extensive research using Eastern and Western sources to ensure authenticity of dishes paired with each dialect and accurate descriptions in English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese
Key Achievements:
  • Delivered the app on time and aesthetically in harmony with other projects for the same exhibition
  • Surpassed our client’s expectations by expanding project scope and deliverable to increase the diversity of dialects showcased

The Freeloaders

Role: Producer, Writer

  • Managed an interdisciplinary team of 6 over 3 months to create a playable prototype of a first-person 3D stealth-survival game
  • Created extensive documentation to capture game design decisions and considerations
  • Coordinated user tests and compiled results to integrate feedback into our design at key points in the development timeline
  • Facilitated meetings and brainstorming sessions to make creative decisions as a team 

A first-person 3D stealth-survival game where you play as a band of freeloaders who have taken up residence in a couple’s home without their knowledge.
